Inver Grove Heights Schools (ISD 199) is pleased to introduce its second districtwide School Resource Officer (SRO), Nathan Taarud!
Since the passage of the November 2024 referendum, ISD 199 has been working with the Inver Grove Heights Police Department on a plan to hire a second districtwide SRO. IGH Police Department staff, school and district leaders, and a student representative interviewed interested officers from the IGH Police Department, and Officer Taarud was selected.
Officer Taarud has been with the IGH Police Department for about two years. Before joining the department, he worked for the Eagan Police Department and the highway patrol in North Dakota. He served active duty in the United States Air Force and the North Dakota National Air Force. Outside of his military and law enforcement experience, Officer Taarud has worked with students with autism as a paraprofessional.
He will get to know students, families, and staff starting this May. He will work alongside our current districtwide SRO Ericka Eid to begin building relationships within the schools and effectively prepare for the 2025-2026 school year. Officer Taarud and Officer Eid will work together to support our more than 3,400 students as well as their families and our staff to create an even safer community.
Thank you to our voters for passing the district’s operating levy increase last November. The increase has made it possible to hire a second SRO who will benefit both our schools and the broader community

Inver Grove Heights Schools (ISD 199) se complacen en presentar a su segundo Oficial de Recursos Escolares (SRO) distrital, Nathan Taarud.
Desde la aprobación del referéndum de noviembre de 2024, el ISD 199 ha estado trabajando con el Departamento de Policía de Inver Grove Heights en un plan para contratar a un segundo SRO distrital. Personal del Departamento de Policía de IGH, líderes escolares y distritales, y un representante estudiantil entrevistaron a oficiales interesados del Departamento de Policía de IGH, y se seleccionó al oficial Taarud.
El Oficial Taarud ha trabajado en el Departamento de Policía de IGH durante aproximadamente dos años. Antes de unirse al departamento, trabajó para el Departamento de Policía de Eagan y la patrulla de carreteras en Dakota del Norte. Sirvió en servicio activo en la Fuerza Aérea de los Estados Unidos y la Fuerza Aérea Nacional de Dakota del Norte. Además de su experiencia militar y policial, el Oficial Taarud ha trabajado con estudiantes con autismo como paraprofesional.
Conocerá a estudiantes, familias y personal a partir de mayo. Trabajará junto con nuestra actual Oficial de Recursos Escolares (SRO) del distrito, Ericka Eid, para comenzar a fortalecer las relaciones dentro de las escuelas y prepararse eficazmente para el año escolar 2025-2026. Los oficiales Taarud y Eid trabajarán juntos para apoyar a nuestros más de 3400 estudiantes, así como a sus familias y a nuestro personal, y así crear una comunidad aún más segura.
Gracias a nuestros votantes por aprobar el aumento de la tasa operativa del distrito el pasado noviembre. Este aumento ha permitido contratar a un segundo SRO que beneficiará tanto a nuestras escuelas como a la comunidad en general.
