Simley High School has been named a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Sustaining Exemplar School. Simley is one of only two schools in the Metro Twin Cities area to earn the recognition for 2023-2024, and one of only nine schools in the state.
The Minnesota Department of Education awards the recognition to schools that have implemented PBIS and continue to achieve positive student outcomes. Schools must submit evidence that they are implementing the PBIS system with fidelity. To apply for the recognition, Simley staff outlined their PBIS training, leadership roles and responsibilities, action planning, data collection, and more.
“This recognition speaks volumes to the work that Simley is doing around their positive behavior systems and in their building. It takes a lot of work to sustain that, especially in a building their size,” Inver Grove Heights Schools Director of Learning, Megan Blazek said. “We can see their work paying off when we look at our high graduation rate and the data around how kids are feeling about being in school.”

Simley High School ha sido nombrada Escuela Ejemplar de Apoyo e Intervenciones Conductuales Positivas (PBIS). Simley es una de las dos únicas escuelas en el área metropolitana de Twin Cities que obtuvo el reconocimiento para 2023-2024, y una de las nueve escuelas en el estado.
El Departamento de Educación de Minnesota otorga el reconocimiento a las escuelas que han implementado PBIS y continúan logrando resultados positivos para los estudiantes. Para solicitar el reconocimiento, el personal de Simley describió su capacitación en PBIS, roles y responsabilidades de liderazgo, planificación de acciones, recopilación de datos y más.
“Este reconocimiento dice mucho del trabajo que Simley está haciendo en torno a sus sistemas de comportamiento positivo y en su edificio. Se necesita mucho trabajo para mantener eso, especialmente en un edificio de su tamaño”, dijo la directora de aprendizaje de Inver Grove Heights Schools, Megan Blazek. “Podemos ver que su trabajo da sus frutos cuando observamos nuestra alta tasa de graduación y los datos sobre cómo se sienten los niños acerca de estar en la escuela”.
