Simley High School AP Physics students visited Pine Bend Elementary School kindergarteners to teach them some physics concepts. The high school students did experiments with the kindergarteners before explaining the physics behind the outcome.
Experiments included dropping different objects in a tub of water and predicting if they would sink or float, throwing an egg at the center of a blanket held up by the high schoolers and talking about why it didn’t break, and trying to get a paper airplane to fly as far as possible. Students followed up their experiments with lessons, like why objects arc in the air when thrown. Students also learned about themselves. They tasted gummy bears with and without their noses plugged and noted the difference, learning that their sense of smell contributes to their sense of taste.
Physics students had a chance to experience teaching while they acted as role models for the kindergarten students and connected with the Pine Bend community. Thank you, physics students, for sharing your learning with Pine Bend kindergarten classes

Los estudiantes de Física AP de Simley High School visitaron a los alumnos de kínder de Pine Bend Elementary School para enseñarles algunos conceptos de física. Los estudiantes de secundaria realizaron experimentos con ellos antes de explicarles la física detrás del resultado.
Los experimentos incluyeron dejar caer diferentes objetos en una tina con agua y predecir si se hundirían o flotarían; lanzar un huevo al centro de una manta sostenida por los estudiantes de secundaria y hablar sobre por qué no se rompía; e intentar que un avión de papel volara lo más lejos posible. Los estudiantes continuaron sus experimentos con lecciones, como por qué los objetos forman un arco en el aire al lanzarlos. También aprendieron sobre sí mismos. Probaron ositos de goma con y sin la nariz tapada y notaron la diferencia, aprendiendo que el sentido del olfato contribuye al del gusto.
