After completing their internships, students in the TriDistrict Center for Advanced Professional Studies (CAPS) program presented at the TriDistrict CAPS Spring Showcase. Simley High School, South St. Paul High School, and Two Rivers High School students presented their experiences in class and in the field to the teachers, administrators, family members, local professionals, and post-secondary staff in attendance.
The TriDistrict CAPS classes – Business and Entrepreneurship, Computer Science and IT, Healthcare, and Transportation and Skilled Trades, and starting next year, Natural Resources, Sustainability, and Food Systems – are open to all incoming juniors and seniors. Students took classes that fit with their future goals and classes that gave them brand-new experiences.
Students held internships at hospitals, marketing firms, animal clinics, hotels, automotive repair shops, and many other local businesses that gave them a first-hand look at daily responsibilities. While some TriDistrict CAPS experiences reinforced students’ career aspirations, other students discovered that certain careers weren’t a fit for them.
Students completed the class with professional experience that will give them an advantage as they enter the workforce. They also gained an understanding of what they want for their future, using their experiences in the risk-free TriDistrict CAPS classes to inform their decisions about college and career.

Tras finalizar sus prácticas, los estudiantes del programa del Centro TriDistrict de Estudios Profesionales Avanzados (CAPS) realizaron una presentación en la Exhibición de Primavera de CAPS TriDistrict. Los estudiantes de las escuelas secundarias de Simley, South St. Paul y Two Rivers compartieron sus experiencias en clase y en el campo ante los profesores, administradores, familiares, profesionales locales y personal de educación superior presentes.
Las clases de CAPS TriDistrict (Negocios y Emprendimiento, Informática y TI, Salud, Transporte y Oficios Calificados, y a partir del próximo año, Recursos Naturales, Sostenibilidad y Sistemas Alimentarios) están abiertas a todos los estudiantes de penúltimo y último año. Los estudiantes cursaron asignaturas que se ajustaban a sus metas futuras y que les brindaron experiencias completamente nuevas.
Los estudiantes realizaron prácticas en hospitales, empresas de marketing, clínicas veterinarias, hoteles, talleres mecánicos y muchos otros negocios locales, lo que les permitió experimentar de primera mano las responsabilidades diarias. Si bien algunas experiencias de CAPS TriDistrict reforzaron sus aspiraciones profesionales, otros descubrieron que ciertas carreras no eran adecuadas para ellos. Los estudiantes completaron el curso con experiencia profesional que les brindará una ventaja al incorporarse al mercado laboral. También adquirieron una comprensión de lo que desean para su futuro, utilizando sus experiencias en las clases de TriDistrict CAPS, sin riesgos, para fundamentar sus decisiones sobre la universidad y la carrera profesional.
