| Former Atheneum Student Receives Distinguished Student Award from National Association for Gifted ChildrenSid Ramesh, who recently attended Atheneum, received the Distinguished
Student Award and a $500 savings bond from the Nicholas Green
Foundation and the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC). He
collected his prize at the Minnesota Educators of the Gifted and
Talented Conference that took place Feb. 7-9. The Nicolas Green
Foundation was established by Maggie and Reg Green to honor the memory
of their seven-year-old son, Nicholas, who was killed while visiting
Italy in 1994. The Green's paired with NAGC to start the Distinguished
Student Awards because they wanted to recognize young people who are
working hard to develop their unique gifts and talents and are around
the age of Nicholas at the time of his death. Sid attended the
Atheneum program at Salem Hills for third-fifth grade. He praised the
program and its teachers in his acceptance speech. Sid then went on to
amaze the crowd with two pieces performed on piano. |
