FAMILY MEDICAL LEAVE FACTS


 
Why am I receiving this notice?
 You are an approved Leave of Absence under the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) for up to twelve (12) unpaid weeks.

 
What do I need to know about my time off benefits?
 Employees will be required to use accrued sick leave during FMLA. Employees may use other accrued paid leaves after exhausting sick leave. Human Resources will enter all leaves into Skyward. Unpaid time off will begin after leaves have been exhausted.


What do I need to know about teacher service credits?
 While on approved FMLA, you are eligible to participate in group health insurance programs. The district will continue to make contributions toward the cost of medical insurance for up to twelve (12) weeks of FMLA. The employee will continue to be responsible for his/her cost.


What do I need to know about teacher service credits?
 Teachers will accrue additional experience credit of up to twelve (12) weeks under the provisions of FMLA. No additional credit shall accrue for the period of time that the teacher is on unpaid leave beyond the 12 weeks.


What do I need to know about my paychecks?
 You will continue to receive regular scheduled paychecks until you have exhausted all of your time off benefits. You will not receive a paycheck during unpaid time off and will be responsible for arranging payment with payroll for the employee cost of insurance premiums. Pay will continue when you return from leave.
