General DatabasesGeneral Databases lead you to information on all types of topics and subjects.

Britannica School is the go-to site for learning more about any subject.  They offer thousands of articles, images, videos, audio clips, primary sources, maps, research tools and recommended Web sites.  

              Student Resources

Student Resources in Context is a great place to start your research.  They offer hundreds of thousands of images, videos and audio selections that include archival film clips, broadcast video, BBC News, New York Times video and NPR. 


 Info Bits

Kids InfoBits covers a broad range of education topics. Their modern design, graphic interface and simple navigations makes it easy for students to explore content. Students can search books, magazines, news articles and images. 

          Informe

Informe Academico meets the research needs of Spanish-speaking users with a wide range of full-text Spanish and Portuguese language scholarly journals and magazines both from and about Latin America.

esearch in Context is created specifically for middle school students.  They offer videos, newspapers, magazines, primary sources and searchable images.  Topics include cultures, government, people, U.S. and world history, literature and much more. 
          ELM 2

ELM (Electronic Library for Minnesota) gives Minnesota residents online access to magazine, journal, newspaper and encyclopedia articles, eBooks (online books), and other information resources. It provides information on a vast array of topics including current events, health, science, social science, politics and business.

Star Tribune is the largest newspaper in Minnesota.  Their database allows students to search for news stories, photos and videos. 
           pioneer press

Twin Cities Pioneer Press is a newspaper based in St. Paul, Minnesota that primarily serves the Twin Cities metropolitan area.  Students can search for news stories, photos and videos related to Minnesota.

 
 proquest

ProQuest Newsstand provides one of the largest collections of news from around the world.  The database includes access to the full text of over 1300 newspapers, news websites and blogs from leading publishers through the world.  Archives go back to the late 1970's for some newspapers. 

          POV Ref

Point of View Reference Center contains a balance of materials from all viewpoints of current issues.  The database helps students to develop arguments and to better understand controversial issues.  It includes essays, articles, charts and graphs and images.  


Health Databases

Consumer Health Complete covers all areas of health and wellness from mainstream medicine to the many perspectives of complementary, holistic and integrated medicine. This resource covers topics such as aging, cancer, diabetes, drugs & alcohol, fitness, nutrition, children's health, and men and women's health.  Students can search and browse within medical encyclopedias, popular reference books and magazine articles.
