Research Databases​

What is a research database?  - It is a searchable collection of information including journals, articles and pictures. 

Britannica School is the go-to site for learning more about any subject.  They offer thousands of articles, images, videos, audio clips, primary sources, maps, research tools and recommended Web sites.						Student Resources in Context is a great place to start your research.  They offer hundreds of thousands of images, videos and audio selections that include archival film clips, broadcast video, BBC News, New York Times video and NPR.
Kids InfoBits covers a broad range of education topics. Their modern design, graphic interface and simple navigations makes it easy for students to explore content. Students can search books, magazines, news articles and images.						Informe Academico meets the research needs of Spanish-speaking users with a wide range of full-text Spanish and Portuguese language scholarly journals and magazines both from and about Latin America.
Research in Context is created specifically for middle school students.  They offer videos, newspapers, magazines, primary sources and searchable images.  Topics include cultures, government, people, U.S. and world history, literature and much more.						ELM (Electronic Library for Minnesota) gives Minnesota residents online access to magazine, journal, newspaper and encyclopedia articles, eBooks (online books), and other information resources. It provides information on a vast array of topics including current events, health, science, social science, politics and business.

Star Tribune is the largest newspaper in Minnesota.  Their database allows students to search for news stories, photos and videos.						Twin Cities Pioneer Press is a newspaper based in St. Paul, Minnesota that primarily serves the Twin Cities metropolitan area.  Students can search for news stories, photos and videos related to Minnesota.
ProQuest Newsstand provides one of the largest collections of news from around the world.  The database includes access to the full text of over 1300 newspapers, news websites and blogs from leading publishers through the world.  Archives go back to the late 1970's for some newspapers.						Point of View Reference Center contains a balance of materials from all viewpoints of current issues.  The database helps students to develop arguments and to better understand controversial issues.  It includes essays, articles, charts and graphs and images.

Consumer Health Complete covers all areas of health and wellness from mainstream medicine to the many perspectives of complementary, holistic and integrated medicine. This resource covers topics such as aging, cancer, diabetes, drugs & alcohol, fitness, nutrition, children's health, and men and women's health.  Students can search and browse within medical encyclopedias, popular reference books and magazine articles.

Health Source: Consumer Edition is a database of consumer health information, covering topics such as AIDS, cancer, diabetes, drugs and alcohol, aging, fitness, nutrition, children's health, women's health and more.  Students can search and browse within health magazines, reference books and pamphlets.

General Science Collection provides researchers with information about the latest and most current scientific developments. Key subjects covered by the database include biological sciences, computing, engineering and technology.  The database contains more than 350 full text journals that are updated daily.

Science Reference Center is a full-text database that covers earth science, life science, technology, health and other popular topics discussed by today's science researchers. The database contains full text for hundreds of science magazines, journals, encyclopedias, reference books and a vast collection of images.

Business Source Premier connects students to business articles from 2,200 journals and magazines in marketing, management, information technology, operations, human resources, accounting, finance and economics dating back to 1965.
