Newsweek Best High School
- In 2011, Newsweek named Simley High School one of the best high schools in America for the fourth consecutive year. Newsweek ranked Simley 478th in the country. Simley was one of nine high schools in Minnesota to crack the list.
The Washington Post High School Challenge
- The Washington Post ranked Simley High School 15th out of all high schools in Minnesota and 959th in the nation in 2011.

- Shinoby Yang - boys basketball. Shinoby was named to the Academic All-State boys basketball team for maintaining above a 3.5 GPA between 10th and 12th grade.
