7th Grade World History students will:

Understand connections between geography and the emergence of civilizations.

Identify cause and effect as it relates to advancements in agriculture and technology.

Identify the origins of government and the connections of ancient civilizations to American Democracy.

Understand how the Constitution relates to previous civilizations, rulers and philosophers.

Identify events leading to the fall of the Roman Empire.

Analyze primary documents.

Find main ideas.

Identify characteristics of major religions throughout the world.

Study with science in an interdisciplinary unit (how germs and bacteria are spread) and the affects of the bubonic plague during the Middle Ages.

In addition, Honors students will:

Compare and contrast similar primary and secondary sources.

Analyze political cartoons.

Create political cartoons.

Debate political issues and current events.

Answer document based questions (DBQs) in preparation for high school AP social studies classes.

Explore topics within history units in more detail by choosing topics, interests and presentation style.

Read high school level excerpts for more challenging and in-depth reading.

Read selected articles from periodicals such as Newsweek.

Provide less "scaffolding" for projects and assignments.
